סמ"ר רועי וייזר הי"ד, גיבור שהקריב את חייו בקרב נגד מחבלי חמאס בשבת הארורה של ה-7 באוקטובר 2023.
היה לו חיוך, אישיות ומנהיגות שלעולם לא תישכח.

סיפור חיים
רועי, שתפס עמדה ליד חדר הבטחון, שם לב שלא מגיעים חיילים לשם, והבין שכל מי שמנסה להגיע יורים עליו מחבלים שכבר נמצאים במוצב. רועי הבין שאם לא יקרה שינוי בלוחמה הם לא ישרדו. רועי פנה לקצין שהיה איתו ואמר לו שהדרך היחידה לשרוד הוא לצאת תחת אש לאיגוף מסוכן להגיע לעמדה אחרת ולמשוך את האש לכיוון אחר. רועי יצא מהעמדה שלו עם עוד 3 חיילים, וחבר לקצין וללוחמים אחרים והם נכנסו לעמדה כדי לעשות זאת, ולחסל עשרות מחבלים ולהחזיק את המוצב עד להגעת כוחות חילוץ. הם ניהלו קרב עיקש מול עשרות מחבלים במשך למעלה משעה, תוך שהם הורגים עשרות מחבלים. בשלב הזה התחיל להיגמר התחמושת והבינו שמדובר בכמות גדולה של מחבלים, הוחלט לסגת לאזור החדר בטחון. רועי הוביל את הכוח חזרה לכיוון החדר בטחון, ולצערנו ארבו להם מחבלים ורועי נהרג, אבל בזכותו וכתוצאה מהחשיבה הטקטית שלו, ניצלו הרבה מאוד חיילים ואזרחים. אחד הדברים שהתברר לאחר מכן שבעקבות העמידה העיקשת של החיילים, הם הביאו לבלימת התנועה של המחבלים צפונה לכיוון אשקלון ואשדוד, והצילו המון אזרחים וחיילים במעגל הרחוק יותר.

רועי - חיוך, אישיות ומנהיגות שלעולם לא תישכח
סמ"ר רועי וייזר שירת בגולני בגדוד 13, בן 21 בנופלו. בן לנעמי וישראל וייזר, אח לשני ונדב.
כבר בגיל קטן לרועי היו המון אנרגיות. הוא לא היה ילד שיושב בשקט ומשחק בחול, הוא היה ילד שרץ ומטפס על הכול.
הוא היה ילד בלי פחד, תמיד רץ קדימה להרפתקה הבאה.
בבית הספר הייתה ילד חכם, לומד למבחן 5 דקות בהפסקה לפני המבחן ואז מתנצל שקיבל רק 95.
הןא למד בתיכון דרך אבות באפרת. אחרי התיכון הלך למכינת עצמונה ושם התחשל ,ואז התגייס לגולני לגדוד 13.
לצטט את אחד החברים שלו- הוא היה נמוך עם אישיות גבוהה, חייל שתמיד היה שם לעזור ולתת מילה טובה ותמיד אבל תמיד עם חיוך!
לאחר סיום המסלול יצא לקורס מ"כים ונשאר שם כמפקד ומשם המג"ד החזיר אותו לגדוד להיות סמל מחלקה של טירונים. זה
.היה בשבילו הטופ, להיות האבא של החיילים שלו, בעיקר היה חשוב לו שלא יחסר לאף חייל כלום.
לאחר המסלול, רועי בחר להישאר עם החיילים שלו שהלכו לתפוס
קו באזור מעבר ארז, וכך מצא את עצמו ביום שבת בשמחת תורה במוצב שם.
ב6.30 בבוקר התחיל הרעשה וכניסה של מחבלי החמאס דרך הגדר, רועי שהיה אחד משני מפקדים שהיו במוצב, חילק חיילים לעמדות, נתן דיווחים לגבי מה שקורה, ודאג שכמה שיותר חיילים שאינם לוחמים יגיעו למקום מוגן.

Life Story
Roey was born in Jerusalem to his parents Naomi and Yami. He was the second of 3 children, brother to older sister Shani and younger brother Nadav. The family moved from Ramat Bet Shemesh to Efrat when Roey was 3.
Roey was creative, smart, sociable, and a loyal friend, and at the same time an athlete, confident, energetic, distracted, and never still.
Roey was optimistic, funny, joyful, entertaining, and noisy, and at the same time responsible, mature, empathetic, positive, caring, willful, and patient.
He knew how to simultaneously support and strengthen spirits during difficult times. Each week when he could Roey joined his friends for Hummus on Fridays, even though he didn’t like Hummus. Every picture of Roey has a smile from side to side. Zero seriousness, only joy, and laughter. That's how he was without posing, without trying to joke, but by just being Roey!
According to one of his friends, “Life’s challenges always seemed minute to Roey, as if no matter what came your way, you would make it through. It did not matter which teacher, which test, or which assignment. From Roey’s perspective, everything would somehow work out in the end. Roey always knew how to get out of everything, even at the last second; he would get out of trouble...”
Roey could connect with those who needed it the most- from the child who was picked on in elementary school to the soldier who was struggling.
Roey had his style. As one of his friends described it: “American but messy and rough, tank top and sweatpants, blue crocs that one can't forget, and a hat that he would never take off his head.”
Roey’s soldiers admired him so much and wanted to prove to him how good they were. Roey was their commander who was also their friend and protector. Everyone could see how much Roey’s soldiers trusted and followed him.
Above all else, Roey was brave. At the age of four, he jumped over the fence to escape from the kindergarten, and at the age of eight, he jumped out of the window to be the first one to recess. Roey lived his life at an incredible speed. His leadership qualities were so great that children in kindergarten would follow him. In High School, he was a volunteer firefighter.
Roey “died how he lived, by putting others first, and when his base was overrun by terrorists, he went on his own to divert their attention allowing others to escape.
At 6:30 AM on Shabbat morning October 7th Hamas terrorists broke through the Erez Crossing with many men and blew into their base. Roey was a sergeant in a platoon that had stayed over the weekend. He was not on guard at the time but heard the shooting and leaped into action. He saw his soldiers being pinned down by hordes of Hamas terrorists, so out of nowhere, he came up with an ingenious but daring maneuver to outflank the terrorists. His maneuver succeeded, and he helped kill all the terrorists. In doing so, he saved the base. Tragically, he was shot and killed during the encounter with the terrorists. Because of his quick thinking, many soldiers survived the attack. He died a hero while saving his friends.
